Maxime Old

Maxime Old, hailing from a family of cabinetmakers, studied at the École Boulle before perfecting his skills in the workshop of Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann, the greatest decorator of his time. Born during a pivotal era marked by unprecedented societal changes, and raised in the tradition of quality craftsmanship and know-how, Maxime Old represents a bridge between the great era of decorators and modern times. He is an authentic and precious witness ensuring the link between the Art Deco period and the remnants of the 1940s style, which blends into the design era.

The Mobilier National and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commissioned numerous works from him for French embassies in The Hague, Helsinki, and Ottawa. Besides a private clientele that remained loyal throughout his career, he was entrusted with significant projects such as the furnishing of the headquarters of the Société des Forges et Ateliers du Creusot, the Marhaba Hotel in Casablanca, the Marignane airport terminal, and the ocean liner France.

Modern, precious, and inventive, Maxime Old's work is highly sought after in auctions.
