Jean Dufy

Jean Dufy was born in 1888 in Le Havre, the seventh of eleven children. His youth was steeped in music thanks to his father, a talented amateur, and in romantic literature, with a particular fondness for Baudelaire, Mallarmé, and Rimbaud. In 1906, Jean Dufy had an artistic revelation at a modern art exhibition in Le Havre, where he discovered Matisse, Derain, and even Picasso.

Jean Dufy was an exceptional colorist, drawing inspiration from the works of Cézanne, Braque, and Picasso to blend contrasting colors and experiment with texture, creating truly unique works. His talent is reflected in the success he achieved in the art market.
