Jacques Bircklé

A master cabinetmaker in 1764, he worked from his workshop on Rue de Charenton. Without seeking to create or invent new forms, he focused on meticulously crafting marquetry furniture, producing pieces of perfect execution during the late reign of Queen Marie-Antoinette and for other prominent figures of the French Court, such as Madame Élisabeth, the Duchess of Lamballe, and the Duke of Orléans. He also mastered veneer work, supplying simpler furniture veneered in rosewood, violetwood, mahogany, or satinwood.
