François Mondon

From a family originating in the Dauphiné, he became known for his production of commodes inspired by the Régence period and the reign of Louis XIV. Established on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, his work is fairly consistent: he used dark veneers of violetwood or rosewood, embellished with Rococo-style gilt and chiseled bronze ornamentation. His commodes typically lacked crossbars. His son continued his work.
