The official location has existed only since 1810, and production only gained attention from the 19th century: a small plot of clayey land, dominating the commune of Pomerol, already produced a highly appreciated wine at that time.

From 1945, Madame Loubat took over the few hectares and applied her expertise to the vines, which proved pivotal for the estate’s future. The wine flourished and reached new heights. A unique combination of factors has contributed to creating an exceptional wine: short vines produce concentrated juice, and the sandy-clay soil and iron-rich subsoil on which they grow enhance the distinctive and increasingly sought-after character of Petrus.
