Collection Randier

The Science, Marine & Curiosities auction, held over three days, paid tribute to 860 objects collected over nearly 50 years by Henri Claude Randier, a keen-eyed collector. 80% of the lots were sold, including two preemptions, and the auction totaled 1.7 million euros.

The Musée National du Château de Compiègne and the Musée du Grand Siècle preempted two lots, recognizing Randier's discerning eye as a model for antique collectors. The Château de Compiègne acquired a quarter-scale model of Empress Eugénie's city carriage (lot 127) for 45,000 euros, marking the highest sale of the auction. The Musée du Grand Siècle preempted an entomologist’s microscope (lot 236) signed "N. Bion à Paris" for 6,500 euros and also purchased an artillery sight (lot 783) signed "Michael Butterfield à Paris" from the late 17th to early 18th century.
