Fine Wines & Spirits
At the beginning of the 20th century, Armand Rousseau inherited the family’s vineyards, and in 1909, thanks to his marriage, his estate expanded. Initially, Armand Rousseau only sold his bottles through wine merchants. However, as he acquired increasingly prestigious parcels of land around his estate, he decided to change his commercial strategy, opting for a more selective sales approach by selling directly to private individuals and restaurateurs.
Starting in 1935, the lands that Armand Rousseau continued to purchase were classified as AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée), which further increased his visibility. In 1959, after the death of Armand Rousseau, his son, Charles Rousseau, took over the estate. At that time, Charles Rousseau owned 6 hectares, which he continued to develop. With his vast experience in the vineyards, Charles decided to introduce new winemaking techniques that were more environmentally friendly and move towards organic practices. In 1982, Charles’ son, Eric Rousseau, joined the family business. Fluent in several foreign languages, Eric added his touch by developing the company’s image and expanding wine exports internationally.
Today, Eric is at the helm of the family business. The estate spans 15 hectares and produces only Pinot Noir. The Armand Rousseau estate offers a total of 7 Grand Cru AOCs: Chambertin, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Charmes Chambertin, Clos de la Roche, Mazis Chambertin, Ruchottes Chambertin, and Mazoyères Chambertin. In addition, one Village AOC is sold: Gevrey Chambertin. Armand Rousseau produces 65,000 bottles annually, 75% of which are exported internationally. The estate’s preferred clients include private individuals, wine merchants, and Michelin-starred restaurateurs. With a distribution channel reserved for select wine merchants, Michelin-starred restaurants, and handpicked private clients, there’s no doubt that Armand Rousseau wines are divine. We have had the opportunity to auction bottles from this prestigious estate several times.
