Ado Chale (born Adolphe Pelsener in 1928) is a self-taught Belgian artisan, designer, and jewelry creator from Brussels. He began his career in jewelry before shifting to furniture design. Drawing inspiration from the inherent beauty of natural materials, Chale developed a distinctive artisanal approach, creating unique pieces that blend functionality with artistic aesthetics. His work is influenced by his passion for geology and his travels, which fueled his creative process.

His works stand out for their use of organic and precious materials, including crystals, semi-precious stones, and metals like agate, chalcedony, jade, lapis lazuli, and turquoise, which he combines with resin, bronze, and aluminum. Chale transforms raw materials into refined, luxurious art objects, such as tables, chairs, door handles, and various decorative items. He even incorporates unconventional materials like slate, bone, mother-of-pearl, clothing buttons, peppercorns, and piano keys, making his furniture unique and instantly recognizable.

Chale’s tables, often inlaid with precious stones or mineral fragments, are highly sought after for their unique designs and exceptional craftsmanship. His early tables, made with cement tops and inlaid with marcasite, evolved to include epoxy resin surfaces, as well as bronze and aluminum designs on tripod bases. One of his most iconic designs, the Goutte d'eau table, features concentric circles inspired by the imprint of a drop in the sand.
