Furniture & Works of Art
Established on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, he received his master’s certification in 1778 after apprenticing with David Roentgen.
He primarily worked for the marchand-mercier Dominique Daguerre and supplied European courts. He navigated the Revolution without difficulties. He mainly produced small-scale furniture (bonheur-du-jour desks, guéridons, consoles), as well as mechanical tables and secret desks inspired by antique architecture. His furniture showcases a strong stylistic unity.
Primarily working with mahogany, Amboyna burl, thuya, and lemonwood, he also adorned his pieces with Sèvres porcelain plaques, Japanese and Chinese lacquer applied to his furniture, as well as marble marquetry framed in ebony. He also incorporated Wedgwood-style medallions.
