Lettre tapuscrite signée adressée à Julie CAPE Oxford, 17 février 1963, 1 page in-4. (Pliure) Tolkien, célèbre auteur du Seigneur des anneaux, meurt en 1973, sans avoir pu achever The Silmarillion. Le roman sera édité et publié en 1977 par son fils Christopher. Le Silmarillion relate l'histoire du premier âge de la Terre du Milieu, monde dans lequel sont placés Le Hobbit et Le Seigneur des Anneaux. «Thank you very much for your nice letter. I was very pleased that you wrote to tell me you enjoyed The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. As for writing more about the same characters, I have written almost all there is to write about them. But I hope you will recognize some of the characters in another book I am busy writing, called The Silmarillion, which I hope will soon be finished [...]». Très rare.
