RÉCIPIENT À BOIRE
BREAKING RECOVERY in the shape of a quail in repoussé and gilded silver, removable head. The bird, of stocky shape, has a body entirely covered with feathers arranged in tight rows, the wings ending in long feathers and the tip of the body with caudal feathers; a moving terrace with turtle, frog, lizard and snakes, bordered by foliage and profiles in medallions. Punches on the edge of the terrace and under the right leg. Most probably Silesia, Legnica, Master goldsmith unidentified, late seventeenth century Height: 11.7 cm-Length of the base: 10.7 cm Weight: 232 g  A bear-shaped drinking vessel is illustrated, Bemberg Foundation, coll. 16th century German silversmith treasures, Rudolf-August Oetker collection, Toulouse, 2016, it bears a stamp of Master "Bauman" (inv. R3, no. 4820), South Germany, second half of the 17th century. A gilded silver owl dated 1590 (inv.Nr.1918.158.) and another, partially gilded, around 1600 (inv. 1914.597) are kept in the historical museum of Basel, Switzerland. At the Badisches Landesmuseum in Karlsruhe, Germany, a silver stag, dated from the last quarter of the 16th century, has a very close base, with insects and lizard under its legs. ARG2021
