1967 - Sunbeam Alpine Serie V Erratum* Please note a significant fuel leak. Please note a significant fuel leak. Chassis n° 395005281 Carte grise française French registration title A charming little English roadster, which was James Bond's first car! A charming little English roadster, which was James Bond's first car! - In 1959, the British Rootes group launched the Sunbeam Alpine to compete with the likes of MG and Triumph, thus contributing to the legend of English roadsters. Production ceased in 1968, when the Rootes group was bought out by the Chrsyler group. - Designed in 1957, the Alpine is equipped with the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder of the Rapier Series II launched at the same time. Compared to the latter, however, it benefits from an aluminum cylinder head, a new rear axle and front disc brakes. With two carburetors, power reached 78 hp, enabling the car to exceed 155 km/h. - The V series was launched in 1965, with a new 1,700 cm3 engine. Powered by two Stromberg carburetors, it developed 92 hp. A total of 19,122 V-series models were produced up to January 1968. Rarer and better built than its MG and Triumph rivals of the time, it was nevertheless less powerful. Nevertheless, the legendary agility of its chassis put it ahead of much more powerful cars. - The example presented here was repainted and put back on the road by an Alsatian professional around 2009-2010 for almost €9,000. Although the cosmetic condition could be improved (the hood and seats were new at the time), the engine was rebuilt, right down to the connecting rod bearings, and the car has not been driven much since. Nevertheless, it passes the CT test, and has recently had its brakes rebuilt. - This is a sporty, comfortable little British roadster, rare on our roads, which will prove a fine alternative to the classic MGB.
