Volkswagen Coccinelle 1200 – 1965 - Lot 7
Volkswagen Coccinelle 1200 – 1965 German registration title The history of the Beetle is undoubtedly one of the greatest success stories in automotive history, with more than 21 million units produced... The model we are interested in here is the 1965 version, the year of the legendary ‘Think Small’ advert! That year, the Beetle underwent significant changes: the wheelbase was lengthened by 67 mm, the rear window was enlarged, and ball joints were adopted in place of pivots on the front axle, improving comfort and road holding. All of these changes made 1965 a pivotal year in the production of the Cox. Our model was delivered on May 31 1965 to Dr Elisabeth L. of Wiesbaden, Germany. She kept her Beetle until 1987, when she sold it to Walter H. of Eppstein, also in Germany. It was only a few years ago that the current owner, a discerning collector of German cars, purchased it. Today, the car is mostly in its original paintwork and has only 68,000 km on the clock, which can be verified through its file! The latter is absolutely unique and still includes its service log, metal information plate, maintenance booklet, and a few photos of the car from the 1980s. It runs very well, the engine is in perfect condition, the gearbox makes no suspicious noises, and the running gear is sound. However, given its low use in recent years, a routine service might be considered. Collectors, this is one of the most beautiful Beetles we have ever had the chance to see. Don’t miss the opportunity to add this monument to your collection!
