Produced from 1938 to 1951 and based on the Fiat 1100 508C Nuova Ballila, the Simca 8 was a great success and managed to hold its own against competitors such as the Renault Juvaquatre and Peugeot 202. Initially equipped with a 1,089 cm3 4-cylinder engine developing 32 hp, after the war it was offered with the 1,221 cm3 41 hp engine designed for the Simca Aronde. Its overhead valve engine, independent front suspension, 4-drum hydraulic brakes and 4-speed gearbox made it a modern car to drive, especially in its early days. In fact, it was quickly nicknamed the Simca Vite... Its steeply sloping rear end, which housed a spare wheel, and its protruding headlights framing a grille that gave it a lot of personality, gave it a well-proportioned and particularly attractive silhouette. The Simca 8 we are presenting is in good overall condition, having been restored a few years ago by a professional named Arnold Stolker in the Netherlands, while a period owner’s plate indicates Louis Méon, owner in Sandaucourt, in the Vosges. Having not been used in recent years, this attractive Simca will need to be properly serviced before it can be driven again.
