Volkswagen Coccinelle 1303 S – 1973 - Lot 85
Volkswagen Coccinelle 1303 S – 1973 French historic registration title In 1972, Volkswagen presented the latest version of the Beetle, christened the 1303 S. This version brought a number of important changes, and really brought the Beetle into the modern era: independent front suspension, a curved windscreen, and an improvement in the 4-cylinder engine to 1.6l for 50 hp. Our example was delivered new to the Principality of Andorra, in an interesting combination of Blue on a black vinyl interior, with the optional sports steering wheel and large-capacity fuel tank. Its original condition is absolutely stunning: the paintwork and interior, both with a very attractive and healthy patina, are original. Of course, the service booklet is still present and stamped, so we can assume that the 21,200 km on the odometer are original! Mechanically, this car runs very well and is – unsurprisingly – at ease even in Parisian traffic. The engine is healthy and quiet (a rare original line on these models!), the gearbox is smooth, and the brakes are perfectly effective. Whether you're a collector or an enthusiast, this is a very fine example of a Beetle that will be just as at home on the streets of Paris as a daily driver as it will be in an important collection!
