Fiat 1500 GT Ghia – 1965 - Lot 47
Fiat 1500 GT Ghia – 1965 Italian period registration title Sold without contrôle technique At the 1962 Turin Motor Show, the transalpine coachbuilder Ghia unveiled a very elegant GT, built at OSI between 1962 and 1967: the 1500 GT Ghia. As its name suggests, it was based on the popular and proven Fiat 1500, from which it took its mechanical components. The platform was redesigned and modified by Gilberto Colombo, the Milanese specialist in tubular chassis under the Gilco name. With its lines and grille/bumper inspired by the work of Virgil Exner, the seductively styled coupé has a sporty allure. It will be marketed by the Ghia coachbuilder itself, and by Fiat. The price of the 1500 GT Ghia was rather high, given the level of finish, worthy of a GT from a major sporting brand, but the model was a great success, with around 846 examples built. The car illustrated on these pages, very elegant in this Champagne color, still has its original libretto, which enables us to follow its various Italian owners: three until 1974, then two transalpine collectors between 1998 and 2024, when it was acquired by a well-known French collector. In excellent working order and presentation, it is now offered at an attractive estimate in view of the market and its rarity. Its future owner will nevertheless have to take care of the corroded rocker panels (especially the right one), and register the car in the country of purchase.
