MG TC – 1946 - Lot 108
MG TC – 1946 French historic registration title Sold without contrôle technique In the aftermath of the Second World War, the British government decided to help automakers exporting more than 75% of their production by allocating steel to them. MG seized the opportunity and, at the end of 1945, presented its latest model, the TC, largely destined for the American market. Derived from the TB, the TC quickly received a host of improvements: wider track, new suspension, 12-volt battery, new interior fittings, etc. Success was immediate overseas, as the car offered a genuine alternative to the liners then presented almost exclusively on their market! Georges Goffoz acquired this MG TC in 1998, and the photos and numerous invoices attached to the file seem to indicate that he was responsible for restoring the car from bare chassis. Some photos still exist showing the car’s former registration, in Isère (38). Although the vehicle registration document indicates 01/01/1946 as the date of 1st registration, it would appear to be from 1947, which can be confirmed by requesting the MG certificate, for example. The engine is not blocked, the car is in good condition, and it will need to be easily restarted before offering all the pleasure of a “late pre-war” to its future owner. To be continued... COLLECTION GEORGES GOFFOZ 1930 - 2019 Georges Goffoz dedicated his life to automobiles. Through his profession, as owner of the driving school in Saint-Génix-sur- Guiers, and as a passionate enthusiast of vintage cars. Some of you will remember him particularly at the wheel of his Amilcar or his during essential rallies, from the 1970s to 1990s, such as the Neige & Glace, of which he was a faithful participant. Very committed, he was also one of the founding members of the essential Savoyard club La Manivelle, based in Chambéry. Georges passed away in 2019, and his daughter and granddaughter have now decided that it was time for his beloved automobiles to emerge from their lethargy and find enthusiasts capable of getting them back on the road. Thanks to him for these cars to which he brought very great care, almost religious, and to them for their trust...
