Citroën DS 21 M Pallas – 1967 - Lot 10
Citroën DS 21 M Pallas – 1967 French registration title The DS 21 we are presenting is an interesting 1967 vintage, the most sought-after by collectors. It represents the quintessential DS before its restyling with 4 headlights under glass. This vintage also saw the introduction of the ‘green liquid’ hydraulic system, reputed to be more reliable, while the 5-bearing engine developing 109 hp gave it the necessary increase in power. Our example was sold in Lyon on 9 June 1967, and its current, second owner took possession of it in 1984. It has never left the Rhône department and still bears its original registration. Its original palladium grey bodywork was repainted in 1985 in a similar shade. Today, it is presented in used condition, with a few traces of corrosion. Its long-range headlights, numerous chrome accessories and Robergel wheel trims give it a very elegant appearance. The interior is entirely original and in its original state. It features the model's emblematic Jager counters and vintage radio. Finished in Pallas, our saloon has red fabric and white skai upholstery combined with red carpets, all preserved in satisfactory condition. Accompanied by its service manual and certificate of conformity, this car has not been driven much recently, but its road test proved conclusive, with only a routine service required. It should be noted that this DS can be seen in the film Les Lyonnais directed by Olivier Marchal in 2011, and a few photos of the shoot are attached. COLLECTION JAMES Seventy years on, and still with the same effect on the crowds, still with that indissociable notion of elegance, avant-gardism and refinement... That’s what the name DS evokes! A lifelong enthusiast of the model, Mr James collected miniatures in quantity, as well as cars. The first was the DS 21, which entered his collection in 1984, followed by the ID 20 Estate and then the DS 23 Ambulance, which took over 6 years to restore. He travelled the roads of France in these cars, accompanied by his wife and friends on their many club outings. Two of them even became movie stars, appearing in the films ‘Les Lyonnais’ and ‘Mystère à Saint-Tropez’. Now up for auction, this collection deserves the attention of passionate collectors looking for authenticity, originality and pleasure to share.
