*Citroën BX 4 TC – 1986 - Lot 84
*Citroën BX 4 TC – 1986 Swiss registration title, in temporary importation Rallye des 1000 Pistes, July 1983, alongside the official Visas, we discover an unlikely BX 4x4 prepared by Politecnic. Behind the scenes, an “in-house” version had also been developed, and it was this that Guy Verrier chose to officially enter the brand in the World Rally Championship, in Group B, for the 1985 season. Whether it was the image of a good family 4-seater saloon or a front overhang engine, the new spearhead of the “Chevrons” firm was against the tide, but it was the car that brought the brand to life, accounting for more than 50% of sales, and so its image had to be established, particularly in sporting terms. What’s more, the Visa can’t handle more than 200 hp, so its sporting performance is limited... The development of what was to become the BX 4 TC was delayed, and it was not finally homologated by the FISA until 1 January 1986. In order to obtain homologation, the manufacturer had to produce 200 examples, so on the basis of a BX, it developed a road version equipped with a 2,141 cc turbo engine developing 200 hp, with four-wheel drive. But the adventure turned into a fiasco, and the Gr. B was discontinued at the end of the season after the tragedies in Portugal and Corsica. Total production of the Série 200 at Heuliez amounted to 86 units sold, the surplus having been destroyed by Citroën under bailiff’s supervision. It is said that around forty examples have survived to the present day. The one pictured here is one of them, but it has an incredible story of its own. It was sold new by the Export Department of the Citroën Champ de Mars dealership in Paris on 22 April 1986 to its first owner, a Swiss man who made little use of it, displayed it in his personal garage and... didn’t register it! 100% original, never modified, and still bearing the various specific details often missing from other models, Mr D. bought it 2nd hand in 2007, when the car had clocked up 2,800 km. It now has 2,865 km on the odometer. It’s still in stunning condition, but we’re dealing with a car that’s barely left the dealership. This incredible 4CV has recently had a general overhaul and an injection tune-up, after being duly registered in Switzerland. With this car, we’re taking you on an incredible journey back in time, almost 40 years to the days when anyone could buy a rally queen. But today, you’re not just anyone..
