DE LORME IN PARIS Early 18th century Silver striking onion watch with protective leather case Case: round on hinge, the back decorated with foliage motifs with a basket of flowers in the center, two birds around the rim, the case middle pierced with foliage motifs, inside the case a bell for the striking mechanism Dial: white enamel with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, an opening for the hour and minute winding square, minute track, stylized hands Movement: mechanical with key winding, chased and pierced cock with attachment on two feet, spiral balance and regulating disc, verge escapement, fusée and chain, striking mechanism with pendant release, signature on plate "De Lorme à Paris". Diam. 51 mm (watch only) Gross weight 118 g (watch only) DE LORME in Paris Early 18th century Silver onion repeating watch with leather protective case The name "De Lorme" is mentioned in the Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français, p. 290. Being active in Paris, our watchmaker would be Jean-Philippe à Paris, Juré 1736-40. He signs a Louis XV clock in the same way: "De Lorme à Paris".
