First edition of this handsome work containing 60 original gouaches by the painter Jean Girard, better known by his artist's name of Jean Besancenot (1902-1992), reproduced in facsimile and in cameo and enhanced, under captioned serpents. Besancenot was in charge of the iconographic service of the French Protectorate in Morocco, and attached to the Cabinet of France in Morocco| here he signs the most remarkable work ever produced on Moroccan costume.
In addition to representations of costumes and figures, the book contains 8 plates showing details, including jewelry, and a map of the region covered by the study.
