Mercedes-Benz 300 SE (W112) – 1963 - Lot 16
Mercedes-Benz 300 SE (W112) – 1963 ERRATUM : Canadian registration title Air suspension fails, vehicle does not start (fuel issue). Luxembourg registration title Sold without contrôle technique In 1961, Mercedes-Benz presented the replacement for the now obsolete figurehead of their luxury car range, the 300 Adenauer, with the 300 SE; the lines were more modern, thanks to the abandonment of the Ponton formula in favour of the new Heckflosse, and its wings inspired by American production. According to the original warranty booklet, our example was delivered in Graphite Grey on 5 October 1962 in Nova Scotia, a province of Canada that it would not leave until 2002. Today, the car is in near-new condition, made possible by an exceptional, high-quality restoration: the paintwork is beautiful, the upholstery is of good quality, and the Pearl Green tint combined with the burgundy leather is a real eye-catcher! Stopped since the end of its restoration, this car will need a complete overhaul before taking to the road again; the air suspension system is nonetheless functional, and the 3-litre 6-cylinder derived from the legendary 300 SL is running well. This is an opportunity for enthusiasts to buy a little-known car of vital importance to the history of Mercedes-Benz, at a very reasonable estimate! “The first version of the now legendary S-Class!”
