Millot Auto Scie – circa 1900 - Lot 64
Millot Auto Scie – circa 1900 No registration title Sold without contrôle technique Founded in the middle of the 19th century in Haute-Saône, the Millot company specialised in the manufacture of agricultural equipment: threshing machines, mowers, etc.; fom 1892 onwards, it specialised in the manufacture of stationary engines. In 1898, the two Millot sons designed an automobile, but mass production was abandoned in favour of more utilitarian models such as motorised band-saw chassis. Millot then offered a wide range of agricultural machinery for use by rural businesses, all fitted with the Millot combustion engine. These vehicles complied with traffic regulations and were equipped with 2 forward gears, a reverse gear, a differential brake and a hand brake; the two rear wheels were driven and linked by a differential to make cornering easier. Our example is an auto-saw powered by a Millot engine, and a plaque shows that it belonged to Mr Prodhon, a sawyer at Ligny in the Meuse department. This saw car is now an interesting restoration project that needs to be completed to pay tribute to the trades of yesteryear. “Charming machine paying tribute to the trades of yesterday”
