LƯƠNG XUÂN NHỊ (1913-2006)
Célébration de la Fête Nationale au Lac Hoan Kiem, circa 1970 Ink and color on silk, signed lower left 38 x 52,2 cm by sight - 14 7/8 x 20 1/2 in. by sight On September 2, 1945, Hồ Chí Minh proclaims in Hanoi the independence of the country which becomes Vietnam. During the celebrations of the national holiday, the streets are adorned with flags. While the artist has often depicted elegant young women, this work is a rare testament to his native country modernizing and celebrating its independence. Here he depicts the center of Hanoi, on the shores of Lake Hồ Hoàn Kiếm. The capture of movement is illustrated through the tramway but also the crowds roaming the streets. The palette made of soft tones contributes to the charm of the composition. Patriotic, the artist has represented this same subject several times thus offering a beautiful tribute to Vietnam.
