Les horizons palis, 2013 Oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right 150 x 180 cm 59 1/16 x 70 55/64 in. Wang Yan Cheng Dividing his life between France and China, Wang Yan Cheng (born in 1960) has been especially acclaimed for his work since the 1990s, when he began to multiply exhibitions in both museums and galleries, and when he made his way into public collections. As the contemporary successor to Zao Wou-Ki and Chu Teh-Chun, Wang Yan Cheng is the last major Franco-Chinese master of lyrical abstraction. His large dreamlike landscapes, mental maps of a geographical space between dream and reality, urge the viewer to contemplative meditation. Accumulating colored layers to create a thick texture to his artworks, his works are focused on the dialogue between men, the universe and nature. As a true international cultural mediator, he is celebrated today in Asia as well as in Europe, and his works are increasingly appreciated on the art market.
