1927 VERNON Derby SURBAISSÉ - Lot 76
1927 VERNON Derby SURBAISSÉ Belgian registration title Eligible for the Mille Miglia! Extremely rare French cyclecar (in fact voiturette!), competitor of the contemporary Amilcar and Salmson; built by two engineers having already proved their worth: Bertrand Montet and Etienne Lepicard The Competition model we present is exceptional in its history, clear since the early 1950s (original 1956 V5 attached to the file!), its condition, original and perfectly functional, and its configuration; it is indeed a low-slung Competition model, which probably has a rich racing history in England Vernon Balls, Amilcar and Derby agent in London, prepared and distributed Derbys in the UK, under the Vernon-Derby brand name; he often raced them, notably at Brooklands Chassis 168 benefits from its original, very slim and elegant body, a model without doors and without staggered seats with a tank at the rear, which seems to indicate that it was raced on circuits; it seems that it was first fitted with a Scap engine (possibly a T12) before receiving in the 1950s a Ruby DS 1100 engine, which was also available in the catalogue in period, with a conforming 4-speed gearbox - We offer you here a unique opportunity to acquire an authentic sports/racing car of the 1920s, perfectly functional (new engine block, new gearbox), with a known and documented history, and regularly entered in the most beautiful events of the genre: Vintage Revival Montlhéry, Trophée Jacques Potherat and... Mille miglia!
