Sold on November 6, 1816 at Leroy, Breguet's agent in Constantinople No. 1233 Silver carriage watch with striking, quarter repetition and alarm function for the Ottoman market Hinged case, cord in the lower part for striking, the caseband with a pull-tab for the striking/silent function. White enamel dial with Turkish numerals, railroad hand for setting the alarm, stylized hands, two openings for key winding, railroad timer. Mechanical movement with key winding, chased and pierced cock, balance spring, verge escapement, advance / delay setting, two hammers on bell, signature "Breguet & Fils, No. 1233". Certificate of the House of Breguet dated April 9, 1974. (Lacking the skin covering on the silver case) Diam. 14.7 cm Gross weight. 1.80 kg With thanks to Emmanuel Breguet, Breguet SA, the archives mention a "carriage watch, silver case with alarm chimes. Mixed establishment. Sent to Leroy (Breguet's agent in Constantinople)". The certificate from Breguet, dated 9 April 1974, confirms the sale date and the price - "6 November 1816 for 1200 Frs" - and the provenance, "sold at Le Roy's", and also gives a precise description: "quarter-repeating carriage watch with alarm. Silver case with double leathercovered silver-plated metal casing. Enamel dial with Turkish numerals". To date, most of the exquisite timepieces created by Breguet for the Ottoman market are in the collections of the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, notably Breguet's masterpiece for the Ottoman market, the famous "Sympathique" clock presented to Sultan Mahmud II.
