Wooden statue, formerly lacquered with traces of polychromy and enhanced with gold leaves, representing the boddhisattva Avalokiteshvara seated in lalitasana (royal relaxation) on a rock, his left foot on the lotus. The face with half-closed eyes expressing serenity and compassion, surmounted by a tiara crowning a high bun of hair. She is dressed in a finely sculpted dress with long folds, falling over her legs and the edges of the rock. H. 78,3 cm - W. 38,5 cm - D. 23,5 cm (Condition report on request) PROVENANCE Private Parisian collection of Mr. L. constituted on three generations since the end of the 19th century. N.B.
