1989 BMW 325 COUPÉ IX
Rare condition History known since the origin Interesting performances French registration title Chassis n° WBAAB910302441706 Introduced in 1975, the first 3 Series was marketed under the E21 code as a replacement for the E10/E20. The second generation of the 3 Series (type E30) arrived in 1982 in a 2-door version and then in a 4-door body in 1984. It was initially offered with two 4-cylinder engines, 1.6 l or 1.8 l, and two in-line 6-cylinder engines, 2.0 l and 2.3 l, before being equipped with the all-new 171 hp 2.5-litre 6-cylinder engine in 1986, which was introduced in the first all-wheel-drive E30, the 325 IX, among other models. The Bavarian manufacturer, known for producing cars with an over-steer behaviour, wanted to silence the bad tongues by highlighting the new grip capacities of its compact saloon. The bet is successful, but the top of the range model remains poorly equipped as standard. Aesthetically, the 325 IX, available in coupe, sedan and touring body styles, differs little from the other E30s, with the exception of the extra two centimetres of ground clearance and its rear wings modified to accommodate wider-track running gear. Although nearly 30,000 were produced, it is difficult to find one today in good condition and aesthetically preserved from the ravages of tuning. Delivered new on February 3, 1989 by the Garage de la Gare - Emile Frey in Lausanne, this BMW 325 IX Coupé had just under 220,000 km on the day of our visit. In perfect condition, it is accompanied by its maintenance booklet which illustrates a regular mechanical follow-up first in Lausanne, then in the BMW dealership in Nîmes, and again in Switzerland at the Alpauto garage in Villars. Well repainted in its original colour, the bodywork is free of corrosion, free of any trace of impact, and the grey velvet upholstery is in near new condition. Purchased 4 years ago at an Aguttes auction, the car has covered less than 4,000 km in the hands of its new owner, who has nevertheless taken the necessary care to maintain its excellent condition, both in terms of appearance and operation (bodywork treatment, new tyres and air conditioning compressor in particular). The 325 IX in coupé form and in this condition are rare on the market, and the price of these mythical 1990s BMWs is constantly rising: don’t let your chance pass.
