He asks him to send to Mme DALTON (Delacroix's mistress), at the Hôtel Voltaire, "the little note you promised her in which you would mention how you acquired the little painting in question, from whom and in front of what people. She is very keen to have it and asks me to tell you that she will be very grateful to you for this kindness, as she is already for the step you kindly took the other day"... A L.A.S. "Eug. Delacroix", February 25 [1840 ?, to Théophile THORÉ]; 2 pages in-8. "I believe the affair arranged with Buloz as you may wish. He told me that he had no one and is very much at ease with what I proposed to him on your behalf.
