1925 CITROËN TORPÉDO B12
Nice presentation Easy to maintain and to use Same owner for 24 years French registration title Chassis n° 162 831 While the «All steel» B10s released the year before certainly represent a huge technical progress, they still lack maturity. Their non-deformable body does not blend well with the B2’s frail chassis. On chaotic roads, the torsion is too important. To cope with the emergency, the factory simply doubled up the frame rails with strong steel bars. The result is quite satisfactory but it is still a solution unworthy of a serious manufacturer. This is why the B10 is quickly replaced by the B12, is launched in October 1925, at the normal time of the Paris Motor Show, which does not take place that year because of the Decorative Arts Expo. The B12 keeps the general line of the B10, except for its curved wings, but it differs significantly in the chassis. This one looks like a real truck frame, so much it is oversized to support the reactions of the «All Steel» body. The front axle is completely revised; it has semi-elliptic springs and cable-operated drum brakes on the B12. The engine of the B 12 keeps the displacement and the power of the 1452 cc B2/B10 engine, putting out 20 hp and allowing it to reach the speed of 75 km/h... far from being ridiculous at the time! Elegant and nicely restored, this torpedo bodied B12 presents itself in good condition, thanks to an old restoration. The bodywork is in very good condition, as well as the chassis and the running gear. Regularly driven, it accompanied many fiancés on their way to church! Bought in 1997 by its current owner, the car was completely stripped and removed from the chassis. All this is very well documented with a large number of photos tracing each step. Starting at the firt turn of the key, it works perfectly and will give a lot of pleasure to a collector looking for a reliable pre-war car able to welcome a whole family. Note that all instruments on the dashboard are present and working. Several maintenance invoices and a period maintenance manual will be attached to the file.
