1960 LANCIA APPIA série3
No reserve Luxury and avant-garde in a small package The most powerful Appia old yet high quality restoration No registration title Chassis n° 80807 - 83711 It is worth remembering that at the time, the presentation of the little Appia caused more of a stir than that of the Aurelia. It offered a remarkable compromise between comfort and performance. The second series resembles the first one but brings so many differences that we could speak of a new car. A more powerful engine (42,5 hp) with a new cylinder head, electric starter control, reinforced clutch, 14’ wheels 15’... It extends the reputation of the brand, sporty yet refined. The Italian journalists of Quattroruote even managed to cover 160 000 km with one, without a single issue! At the 1959 Geneva Motor Show, the third series took up these developments and was recognizable by its new rectangular grille, a sign of recognition of the Lancia built under the reign of the new owner of the firm, Carlo Pesanti. The power jumps to 48 hp, making it the fastest in its category with 135 km/h. It innovated thanks to its double braking system and was a great success, selling 55,000 units. Completely restored at the end of the 1980’s in its original livery, this Appia Series 3 is presented to us in a beautiful apparent condition. We only note a few traces of surface corrosion (body and chassis). In the accompanying file, several pictures show a careful restoration with the body exposed. The interior is clean, with seats under plastic protection and rubber mats with the Appia logo. The engine, not blocked, will have to be restarted.
