1955 LANCIA APPIA série1
No reserve True little sister to the Aurelia Economical model but with great refinement Mille Miglia eligible No registration title Chassis n° C10S - 7369 In the spring of 1953, the production of the Aurelia was well underway. Now that the Aprilia had found its successor, it was time to replace the little Ardea sedan. The newcomer borrowed the V4 monobloc engine with an aluminum cylinder head and a rigid axle, but similarities ended there. It was given an independent front axle, sophisticated telescopic suspensions and two innovative side camshafts. With 1090cc and 38 hp at 4,400 rpm, the Appia is light enough (820 kg) to offer pleasant performance. The elegant bodywork is still distinguished by its brilliant antagonistic doors and the absence of a central pillar. The whole thing is nevertheless rigid with more modern lines than the Aurelia. The dashboard is painted like the Aurelia’s and the interior is surprisingly spacious for its class, making it a pleasure to sit in. The first series ran for three years and underwent some modifications. The steering wheel, the gear knob and the ivory-colored instruments in the tone of the time are the most distinctive features. The presented model, dressed in an elegant medium blue, was repainted, but kept its original interior, now in poor condition. The undercarriage shows traces of corrosion, but the engine is not blocked, and the set will seduce Lancia connoisseurs, or fans of 1950s people’s cars looking for a high performance vehicle with advanced technology.
