APOLLINAIRE Guillaume (1880-1918)
Autograph letter signed. S.l., May 20, 1914. 2 pages in-8 in brown ink. (Letter partially faded). Letter concerning the poet Vincent Muselli (1879 - 1956). Apollinaire thanks his correspondent for sending his book of verse, which he will write about in the review Les Soirées de Paris (a review to which he contributed from February 1912 to August 1914), and takes the liberty of recommending the book of verse by his friend Vincent Muselli, who is competing for a prize and a travel grant. "I have no doubt that you will take an interest in these well-crafted verses, springing from a traditional vein and a wonderfully condensed lyricism. If they did not hold your attention for the prize of which they seem to me worthy, I am certain that they would force your esteem. This is basically what Muselli's ambition is. But I also know that the prize would be very useful to this boy who is interesting in more than one way, as a poet and as a philosopher". Vincent Muselli's poems were published in the Mercure de France number 109 of May-June 1914. The same year, his first collection entitled Les Travaux et les jeux was published.
