BERNARD Émile (1868-1941) peintre.
L.A.S. addressed to Mme DUCHATEAU. [Paris, 21 March 1911]. 3 pages and a half in-8 in brown ink, envelope kept. He confirms his coming on Thursday: "If I had had another engagement I would have destroyed it to go to you. If my presence can console you from the affliction which oppresses you"... He is overloaded with work: "Work is my life, my joy, my rest. I hope you will do as I have done, and you will forget your sorrows. Read. Occupy yourself with things that will keep your mind occupied above yourself. And then there is God"... If her presence can do him good, he envisages more regular visits: "You could be an inspiration to me, since your mind is in tune with mine and since you have an art too, which my piano is ready to assist. I have only this to say to you. Love your friends and let them love you"...
