2001 Peugeot 206 WRC Glace Michel Vaillant
Interesting story! Real car from the movie In very good condition Competition vehicle without title Chassis number FLD Each of us has his own idols and legends of motorsport, Formula 1 drivers, winners of the great endurance races, rally icons, or movie stars. But let’s not forget the 8th Art and its comic book heroes! In this universe, as rich as it is exciting, a driver crosses the ages with a rare charisma. His name? Michel Vaillant, undoubtedly the most fair-play and endearing of all our comic book heroes... Born from the imagination and the pencil stroke of the late Jean Graton, who passed away earlier this year, he inspired a real saga that has lasted since 1957. After 76 albums, he has of course countless fans. Some drivers, like Alain Prost, explain that their vocation was born after reading a Michel Vaillant... The year 2003 was marked by the release of the movie Michel Vaillant, with the actor Sagamore Stevenin in the title role, and inevitably a string of star cars. The 206 that illustrates these pages has a fascinating history. It began its life in 2001 when an ice racing enthusiast, Mr V., decided to enter a brand new world ice racing championship: the short-lived IRSI. Our 206 is built from a bare production body, entirely modified by FLD, arced and welded according to the standards of the WRC championship; for the engine, a 4-cylinder 2-litre turbo is chosen, whose power varies between 380 and 420 bhp, coupled to a six-speed sequential gearbox which transmits the power to the four driving wheels. Once developed, the car participates in this new championship in 2002 and 2003, finishing almost all the races by fighting against 205 T16, 306 Maxi or Subaru Impreza... In 2003, by luck, the car is in Canada for the races of the championship, at the same time as the shooting of the film Michel Vaillant; the director is in search of snowy sceneries and racing cars on ice for the scenes of races. The 206 is thus chosen, then slightly transformed for the needs of the film. Peugeot had in fact planned 206s but without any mechanical modification for the extras. The rest of the scenes are filmed in Haute-Savoie, with Remy Julienne’s team to manage the stunts. And behind the wheel of our 206, it is the inenarable Jean Ragnotti, «the balancing act», who improvises himself stuntman... After the shooting our 206 is put back in its «ice» configuration and resumes its racing career in France, running for example the Sprint Hivernal of Serre-Chevalier in 2011, 2018, 2019 and 2020. It has very recently been put back in Michel Vaillant configuration and revised.
