FORT Paul (1872-1960)
MANUSCRIPT autograph signed "Paul Fort", Joies désolées et Tristesses consolées, [1937]; 267 pages in-8, in sheets in black half-chagrin folder. Complete collection of 200 poems. This is the "manuscrit originaL & qui servit à l'impression de Joies désolées et Tristesses consolées (Nouvelles Ballades Françaises)," as Paul Fort indicates on a leaf added at the head of his manuscript, which indeed bears many typographical indications in pencil of the author, as well as of the printer. The "Ballade Française en l'honneur de l'Arpajonais" appears in the manuscript in the form of a press clipping, preceded by an autograph note. This 38th volume of Ballades françaises and Chroniques de France was published by Flammarion in April 1937. The manuscript is carefully drawn up in black ink, from the poet's beautiful handwriting on the front of the leaves. At the end of the collection, the poet drew up the table of poems of his book, divided into four parts: Songes; Histoires, fables and songs (including the 7 "Chants à la Bien-Aimée"); Africa; and Johanniana
