CHAR RENÉ (1907-1988)
AUTHORIZED MANUSCRIPT; 1 page in-4 with blue ballpoint pen, with erasures and corrections (slightly effaced margins). "Indications et suggestions pour la mise en scène" from L'homme qui marchait dans un rayon de soleil. This "mimodrama", subtitled "Sédition en un acte" first appeared in March 1949 in Les Temps modernes, then was collected, in a substantially revised version, in Les Matinaux the following year, before being included in Trois coups sous les arbres, Théâtre saisonnier (1967). The play premiered in Cambridge in 1954. "The jurors in the action (in stiff black jackets and women in black dresses with fuzzy blonde hair) will be seen half-body, seated. The pit will have to be raised. An unremarkable piece of scenery will be built in the left-hand stage-hall corner (in the last dressing room for example): the end of a garden alley almost in the shade by which will arrive "the man walking in a ray of sunshine""...".
