PISSARRO Camille (1830-1903)
L.A. (draft), [January 29, 1897], to Eugène MURER; 1 page and a half in-8 with deletions and corrections. Interesting draft letter on his painting and an unreturned painting. He asks Murer's help for "a little dispute that divides you with Miss Marie about one of my paintings that you do not describe. I cannot remember which painting is the cause of the dispute; however I add that what you tell me about it seems possible to me, my wife here denies ever having given anything in fact of a painting" . Then it comes to the claim that I have been making to you for about fifteen years, of a canvas of 15 representing a mechanical battery, or harvest; I had given you two canvases that you were to show to Mr. Laurent-Richard, you returned one of the canvases representing a garden [...] and you kept the second one, the best one, without any right and against all justice".
