DEGAS Edgar (1834-1917)
L.A.S. "Degas", Monday [February ? 1884], to Albert BARTHOLOMÉ; 2 pages in-8 (small mourning). He could not go to Mrs. Caylus' house, because the dinner at the Ratomskys' house started very late: "I could not get away with my mouth full". So he went to see Mrs Bartholomew "on purpose". He also missed cLemenceau, and on Sunday "I only went to the workshop around 3 o'clock, too late to enter the bastringue with the card sent by the master. There had been lunch at Coquet's too with the painter's friends, I missed him too. How hot it could be in this place!"
