RARE BONBONNIÈRE in micro-mosaic. Round in shape, the lid is decorated with a mythological scene in micro-mosaic depicting the god Chronos and the three goddesses of destiny, on a sky background. It is highlighted by a floral border in finely chased yellow gold. Tortoiseshell frame, pink gold interior. Italy, probably Rome, first quarter of the 19th century Diam. 9,4 cm Gross weight : 177 gr PROVENANCE Private collection, Paris Antoine Tardiveau, master in Paris in 1798- 1799 at 17 rue Greneta Note : A bonbonnière kept in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum is similar to our model. It has a tortoiseshell and gold frame, by the same goldsmith. The lid is decorated with a micro-mosaic representing two swans.
