1976 Rolls-Royce Camargue COMMANDÉE NEUVE PAR SA MAJESTÉ IMPÉRIALE LE DERNIER SHAH D’IRAN
State of presentation and faultless operation Complete historical record and fully documented Only 41,000 km original and certified French car registration document Chassis : JRX 23 260 - Engine : JRX 23260 The collection of the last Shah of Iran, a lover of luxury cars and sports cars, included more than 3,000 vehicles, including some of the most exclusive in the world. After the fall of the "Kings of Kings and Light of Aryans", the Islamic state sold the collection, a selection of which was sold a few years later in Geneva by Brooks Europe. It was on this occasion that the Rolls-Royce Camargue that we have the honour of presenting at auction was bought by its third owner on 12 March 1997. Ordered directly from the factory on 28 May 1975 with an estimated delivery date of 1 April 1976, this car was destined to remain in Switzerland to drive the Shah on his personal trips. A second car ordered on March 12 of the same year in Cobalt blue with a Nuella Stone interior and blue carpets was exported to Iran. It is amusing to read in the important historical file accompanying the car that the Shah received a "parculier" treatment with a 15% discount in addition to certain favours to speed up the delivery of the vehicles... which in the end did not happen given the difficulties encountered by the Crewe factory at that time. Very well documented, we have all the correspondence between the factory and the Shah's services, the purchase orders, the factory sheet of the time, the car assembly book and even the purchase invoice. Purchased at the sale by a collector from Neuilly-sur-Seine, the car had only 3,482 km on the odometer. At its wheel, it will travel just under 35,000 km until 2008. In the meantime, it will be regularly maintained and repainted in the Lecocq establishments in April 2003 with a complete dismantling of the bodywork. It is then that its 4th and current owner bought it after having spotted the car in the LVA newspaper on February 28th, 2008. He who dreamed of one day having in his garage the ultimate luxury with a Rolls-Royce and the best in sports cars with a Ferrari Testarossa... he was fulfilled! As a careful owner, the car was pampered over the years. Its original Crown Gold colour with a Nuella Stone interior with matching light beige carpets is splendid as is the condition of the bodywork. Treated during the first 2020 containment, the few corroded parts of the bodywork were replaced in order to ensure the highest possible standard for this singular car. At the wheel, we were able to enjoy the comfort and driving pleasure of this vessel from elsewhere. Perfectly suspended, the car moves like a magic carpet, the gearbox shifts smoothly and quickly and of course, the 6,750cc V8 engine provides good acceleration. Only 531 units of this Pininfarina-designed model are produced, making it the most unique RollsRoyce of all. There is no doubt that it will go through the ages without ever leaving anyone indifferent on its way. If we add to this the history of this model, it is obvious that its future in a collection is assured!
