1973 Alpine A310 1600 VE
Very rare VE series Original engine In his juice! French car registration Chassis no.: 859 Worthy heir of the A110, the Alpine A310 is the last car designed by Jean Rédélé with a design worked out by Marcel Beligond which will give it a very original line, both compact and fluid. The founder of the brand had in mind to propose something else than his very racing Berlinette. With the A310, he was aiming at a grand touring market, by proposing a bigger and more comfortable 2+2. The A310 1600 was presented at the Geneva Air Show in 1971, and its very angular style was a break with its predecessor. Its design is however very pure and sought-after at the same time. A break with style and standing, the comfort on board evolves with the appearance of carpeting and richer seats that smell of the 70s. Road handling will also be revised with the introduction of triangulated suspension. This is the so-called VE model presented in these pages. First put on the road on April 4, 1973, it is model number 859 in the series. It is a typical seventies metallic bronze colour, the interior is in black leather. It was sold new in Tours before joining the Sarthe in 1977. It will remain in the hands of the same owner from 1977 to 2015. The car is now in an interesting original condition, never restored or modified. The paint is period and a little tarnished, the interior is in good condition and the engine running with its Weber 45 carburetors. The odometer reads just over 87,000 km and this seems to be the original mileage. The mechanical part was restored about ten years ago by the previous owner and since then the car has been driven very little. Today the A310 deserves a careful refurbishment, but the base is sound and above all complete.
