1959 Jaguar XK 150 3.4L Coupé
Nice general presentation Healthy car in good working order Same owner since 2006 Collector's French car registration document Chassis no.: S835704 The ultimate evolution of the XK series, it was in May 1957 that Jaguar launched the 150, succeeding the 120 and 140. With a solid international reputation, Jaguar continued to evolve the history of its XK line, initially launched with a 3.4-litre in-line 6-cylinder. Aesthetically, the changes include the addition of a single-piece curved windscreen. The line is more modern under the influence of the style of the Jaguar sedans of the MKI and then MKII era. Technically, the 150 retains the architecture of the chassis but also of the rack-and-pinion steering that appeared with the XK 140. In addition, for the first time ever, it benefits from standard disc brakes. The first engine available is the 3.4-litre 190hp 3.4-litre engine, coupled to a 4-speed manual gearbox with optional overdrive. A 3-speed automatic Borg Warner is also available in the catalogue. From the following year, an S version of the 3.4l engine was launched with three SU HD8 carburettors to develop 250 bhp. Production of the roadster ceases in December 1960. The coupé is discontinued in February 1961 and the cabriolet in July 1961. The example we offer you here is an XK 150 3.4l coupé, first put on the road in February 1959 in New York. It is presented to us in its original configuration, with its cream-coloured bodywork and red leather upholstery in accordance with its Jaguar Heritage certificate. The current owner purchased the Jaguar in 2006 from a Belgian private individual for €35,000. Since then, he has taken care to regularly maintain and intelligently restore his car. Thus, and beyond the numerous invoices that the file contains since 2007, our XK 150 has recently benefited from a complete new paint job and a partial repair of the red leather upholstery. Indeed, its owner wished to keep what could be, and in particular the door panels as well as the rear seats which have a very nice patina. All in all, this XK 150 coupe looks very good, with impeccable alignments and mechanics in perfect working order. The engine as well as the cylinder head are original, and the car is still equipped with its Moss 4 speed gearbox. During our test drive, we appreciated the general behaviour of the car, improved in particular by the installation of an electronic ignition. Apart from a slight squeak in the steering column, the engine was in perfect health. The XK 6-cylinder rises linearly in revs and braking was in line with our expectations. Without hesitation, this is one of the most beautiful cars we've tried in recent years.
