1966 Austin-Healey 3000 MK3 BJ8
Latest evolution of the 3000 Nice configuration Rigorous maintenance Collector's French car registration document Chassis no.: HBJ8L36160 The Austin-Healey 3000 is a sports roadster launched in 1959 to replace the 100-6 in the range. This model earned the nickname "Big", in reference to its large 3-litre engine. The bodywork remains identical to that of its predecessor but the old 2.6l 6-cylinder engine is replaced by a 2,912cc engine with 2 SU carburetors and disc brakes at the front. Power now stands at 124 hp. This initial model was produced from 1959 to 1961, when the Mark 2 was released. The Mark 2 benefits from three SU HS4 carburettors, increasing power to 132 bhp. It also gets a new grille with vertical bars. This version kept the same code BT7 for 4 seats and BN7 for 2 seats. In 1962, the car gains in comfort when the plastic side side-screens are replaced by removable windows and a new, more easily manoeuvrable soft top closes over the now curved windscreen. Finally, the last evolution of the 3000 range, the Mark 3 version was launched in 1964. Now equipped with two SU HD8 carburettors, its engine develops a power of 150 hp. It was also equipped with a brake booster and its rear suspension received longitudinal tie rods. The Mk3 thus appears to be the most comfortable Big Healey. It is also the most luxurious, thanks in particular to its varnished wooden dashboard. For its end of reign, the Mk3 will be produced in 17,712 units from 1964 to 1968. The copy that we offer for sale is an Austin Healey 3000 Mk3 BJ8 from 1966. Of American origin, this car arrived in Europe in 1990. It has been fully restored by its former owner in the early 90s. The work is documented in an important file provided with the car. Its current owner acquired it in 2005, and has taken great care in maintaining it rigorously to this day. Racy and elegant in a very homogenous whole, it is equipped with a beautiful two-tone livery in English green and cream combined with a black imitation interior. It has an alpaca hood that was replaced in 2005. Its chromes and rims are still in very good condition and still have a nice shine. The car is now in a good state of conservation, its mechanics start at a quarter of a turn and its road test gave us complete satisfaction. The most modern version of the "Big Healey", this very well maintained BJ8 represents a great opportunity to treat yourself to the latest evolution of the mythical English roadster.
