1907 Ariès Type 0 23 SPIDER 14/18 ch
In the same family since 1946 Slight restoration in 1964 Complete and rolling Collector's French car registration document Chassis No. 879 Founded in 1903 by Baron Charles Petiet, the Ariès brand is located in Asnières, then in Villeneuve-la-Garenne near the Aster factory which will supply many engines. Ariès means "ram" in Latin, it is a symbol of power. The manufacturer quickly made a name for itself through its reliable and high-quality products, firstly aimed at a middle-class clientele for individual cars and then for these more modest models aimed at a wider clientele from 1907 onwards. At the same time, since its beginnings the French manufacturer has been manufacturing vans and trucks, which were widely used during the First World War. Ariès offers a diversified production, equipped with various engines, such as the single-cylinder adopted on the VT buggy in 1908, the first French V6 engine developed in 1910, or in 1912 a valveless engine manufactured under license Knight. In 1907 the American banking crisis spreads to Europe and it is in this context that the O type appears. It is a popular model which becomes known thanks to Edmond Baure, the brother-in-law of Baron Petiet, who makes the trip from Paris to Madrid in two days, without any mechanical trouble thanks to its exemplary reliability. Ariès then proves that small cars can be equal to big ones, at least in terms of endurance and performance. Only 20,000 examples will come off the production lines in 35 years, including the Spider, which we present today in October 1907. In the same family since 1946, this car is in an exceptional state of preservation. Going beyond the vocation of the object itself, each element of its bodywork, each mechanical part or accessory uses noble and high quality materials. To say that this car carries its history is not usurped as it carries the torments of time on its bodywork. Never modified except for the replacement of the rear bench of the Spiders of the time for a more practical trunk in the 90s, this car is of rare authenticity. Put back on the road a few years ago during a car rally after a long immobilization, its mechanics are such as Baron Petiet wanted it to be: robust, reliable and alert! Will be given to the purchaser the copy of its old registration document dating from 1972, date on which the car left Moulin le Comte to join the Cher, but also its receipt of declaration of the Somme dating from 1913, its instruction manual, maintenance manual, commercial brochure of the time, technical documentation of Aster mechanics and finally a plan to scale ½ of the engine 43 JM4. There is no lack of qualifiers to define the originality of this car. By its history, its condition or the documentation that accompanies it, this Ariès is simply unique! WITHOUT RESERVE
