RAVEL Maurice (1875-1937)
L.S. "Maurice Ravel", Le Belvédère, Montfort l'Amaury 14 November 1924, in ROLAND-MANUEL; 1 page in-4 typewritten with his monogram and address. He fears that he will not be able to hear the ballet by Roland-Manuel [Le Tournoi singulier, with the Ballets Suédois]: "this damned flu has made me lose more than 3 weeks, and I am dizzy from measuring what I still have to do to finish L'Enfant et les Sortilèges in a month and a half! And what a late November! On the 28th, rehearsal with J[elly] d'Aranyi to give the [Gypsy] movements to Pierné. The next morning, rehearsal at the Châtelet. I will leave immediately and will thus attend neither the concert of the Vieux-Colombier, nor the 1st audition of Tzigane at Colonne. I don't care about any of that. .... But what about The Singular Tournament? ...] Maybe one day when I've made good progress (or it won't go well at all), I'll be able to grant myself a midnight break". He points out some inaccuracies concerning him in the articles of Roland-Manuel... L'intégrale, n° 1798.
