Grand Prix de Monaco 1996
W series Mechanical movement with automatic winding
Diameter: 40 mm
Steel bracelet Oyster ref.78390
We are pleased to present this rare Daytona version with Zenith movement ref. 16520 series W nicknamed "Patrizzi" (after the Italian auctioneer who discovered their specificity).
Produced for only three years, these dials are known to have their sub-dials develop a significant patina.
Moreover this watch has an interesting and rather unofficial history. On the occasion of the 1996 Monaco Grand Prix the Monegasque jeweller
Zegg & Cerlati decided to produce 22 watches for the pilots of the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Unfortunately, a sponsoring contract already binding Tag Heuer and the Grand Prix made the communication operation impossible!
Today the surviving examples of this operation are very rare and it is the only one with a black dial known to date which is in very good original condition with a dial in perfect condition and a beautiful vanilla patina of the sub-counters.
