BRONZE PLATE representing the worship of the Trinity. In clouds, God, Christ and the Dove of the Holy Spirit are worshipped by angels and a crowd of men and women including Old Testament characters such as Moses holding the Tables of the Law, Noah presenting his ark and King David carrying his lyre, but also New Testament characters such as Saint John with his eagle and the Virgin. Netherlands, early 17th century Height: 19 cm - Width: 13 cm PROVENANCE Private collection, Lyon This representation originates from an engraving by Cornelisz Cort dated 1566 from the painting of The Glory of Titian kept at the Prado. A lead copy is kept at the Mayer van den Bergh Museum, Antwerp (n°556). Work consulted: I.
