Napoléon Ier (1769-1821)
L.A.S "NP", [Tuileries December 15, 1809], to his sister Pauline BORGHESE; 1 page in-8. Rare autograph letter to his sister Pauline, at the time of her affair with Christine de Mathis. It was Pauline who, at the end of 1809, pushed into the arms of her brother, then plunged into the difficulties of his divorce with Josephine, his lady-in-waiting Christine de MATHIS (1784-1841), "a little blonde rather fat" of Piedmontese origin, who kept Napoleon busy until the arrival of Marie-Louise. Pauline served as a matchmaker between the lovers]. "I'm very angry at what you're writing to me. The sorrow that C. feels. [Christine] hurts me. Today nothing is ready, you will come tomorrow and you will be able to lead 4 ladies instead of 2 without any inconvenience. Lead Mde de Cavour and the other one. That will make all the difference. Since you'll be staying at the Petit Trianon, you'll have plenty of room. Farewell little sister, I am sad and very tired today". General Correspondence, t. IX, n° 22616. EMP2021
